Emit Bloch - Exclusive Track stream
Emit Bloch's back story is what initially snags your attention. Born on a cattle ranch in Utah, the mid-Western US state home to the Christian right , he relocated to Berkeley, California at a young age and proceeded to immerse himself in the hedonistic beatnik sub-culture. So far, so surreal. Since then the perennially cowboy-hated Bloch has relocated to the UK, and it is our rather drab nation that has now become the inspiration for this talismanic new country singer.
Today he stands as a larger-than-life figure. A self-aware caricature of Americana he may be, but these cliches come wrapped up in a bundle of pioneering songmanship that is dragging country music kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.
