Fresh Drift Meat - Exclusive EP
There's a dozen or so independent labels scattered across the UK that FDM.com would quite happily walk over steaming hot coals for. Most of these labels are bedroom or small-scale operations, one or two people navigating the countless hurdles that stand in the way of running a successful, brave and (most importantly) innovative independent record label. Drift Records is one such label. A two-man operation based in Devon, they're responsible for putting out some of the most creative and exciting folk (and beyond) music of 2008.

In recent weeks FDM.com and Drift Records have been discussing doing something rather special to mark the onset of the festive season. A trip to Lapland in the New Forest fell through right at the last minute and we really couldn't face a month-long bender in Vegas, so we have instead settled on an exclusive - and completely free! - seven track downloadable EP.

Featuring seven Mp3s from the cream of Drift Records' immense repertoire, the 'Fresh Drift Meat EP' features the following bundles of joy.

Matt Eaton : 'Going My Way'
Taken from the LP 'Finish Your Chips'

Cottonmouth Rocks : 'Cheap Thrills'
B-side to 7" 'Witch Doctor' vinyl single

Thomas White : 'The Emerald Tree' [EXCLUSIVE FIRST LISTEN]
Taken from the as-yet-untitled 2009 Album

The R.G.Morrison : 'Virginia' (South Coast Remix) [EXCLUSIVE FIRST LISTEN]
Taken from the forthcoming 'Farewell, My Lovely' LP

Thirty Pounds of Bone : 'The Jonah Shanty' [EXCLUSIVE FIRST LISTEN]

The Muddy Suzuki : 'Chorus Tortoise'
Taken from the 2009 album 'Mee Too'

Le Reno Amps : 'Airwaves'
B-side to Single 'Send Me On My Way', released Monday 8th December

Fans can listen to and then download each of the tracks individually by heading over to the FDM.com Mp3 channel now - http://www.freshdeermeat.com/mp3s.php. The 'Fresh Drift Meat EP' will be available for a limited time only so you should get clicking straight-away.

Those of you not yet familiar with Drift Records should head over to their official site now to get the low-down on one of the UK's best labels - www.driftrecords.co.uk. They also like mince pies so any thank-you presents should be sent to the address on their website.

Enjoy the EP and have yourselves a lovely weekend!
